Gameplay

  • 10+ Players 👥

  • 4-6 Minutes ⏱️

What You’ll Need

  • A box of cheap disposable straws

  • A bottle of water (optional, for bonus round fun)

  • (optional) A prize for the winning team

Setup

  • Divide the bus into two teams: boys vs. girls, front vs. back, or left vs. right.

  • Give each team an equal number of straws (or just dump the whole box in the aisle and let the chaos begin).

How to Play

  • Issue the Challenge: Announce, “Your team’s mission is to connect straws from the front of the bus to the back—first team to reach the end wins!”

  • Start the Connection: On “go,” teams begin assembling their straw chain.

  • Strategize & Coordinate: Encourage teamwork—passing straws, assembling sections, and connecting them carefully.

  • Declare a Winner: First team to connect their straw chain from the start line to the back of the bus wins!

  • Optional Water Test: Once built, pour water in the front of the straw chain and see if it makes it to the end.

  • Celebrate: Cheer for the winning team and give out a small prize or let them pick the next game or song.

Say Something Like
"Alright guys, I found a box of straws—and I’ve got a challenge. Boys vs. girls: who can connect your straws the farthest down the bus? First team to reach the back wins! Let’s see some teamwork and crazy creativity. Ready? Go!”

Variations

  • Silent Straw Build: No talking allowed while building—use gestures only!

  • Timed Chaos: Set a 2-minute timer and see which team gets the farthest.

  • Straw Relay: One player connects a straw, then passes it back to the next player to connect theirs.

Discipleship Teaching Points
This game is a goofy reminder that fun and unity go hand in hand. Even something as small as a straw can bring people together when you choose to include others and work as a team.

Secular Teaching Points
Kids learn quick collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity through a lighthearted challenge. It also breaks the ice and builds positive bus culture.
