Spoke Race Game

A high-energy race game where speed, reflexes, and direction matter! Players sprint from their teams like spokes on a wheel to be the first to capture the center flag.

Gameplay

  • 10+ Players 👥

  • 4-6 Minutes ⏱️

What You’ll Need

Setup

  • Form a giant wheel: Place the large cone with the flag at the center of your playing area.

  • Place the orange cones: Position the 4 orange cones equally spaced around the center cone like the spokes of a wheel.

  • Assign teams: Divide the group into 4 teams and seat them in a single-file line at each orange cone, facing the center.

  • Place counselors: Assign 1 counselor per team to stand at the end of each team’s line (farthest from the center).

  • Number the players: Number each participant in the line (1–20 or however many are playing).

How to Play

  • Call the number: The game leader loudly calls out one number (e.g., “Number 7!”).

  • Jump and run: All players with that number from each team jump up and run counterclockwise (to their left) around the wheel.

  • Loop the counselor: Each runner must loop around the outside of one of the opposing team's counselors and continue back toward their own counselor.

  • Run the final stretch: They must pass on the right side of their team’s counselor and head to the center cone.

  • Grab the flag: The first player to grab the flag wins the round!

  • Repeat: Continue calling new numbers for additional rounds.

Say Something Like
"Let’s see who’s the fastest spoke in the wheel! Each of you has a number, and when I call it, you race around and try to snatch that flag first. Ready? Number... 11!"

Variations

  • Double Trouble: Call out two numbers per round! The first of the two to grab the flag wins.

  • Reverse Race: Players run clockwise instead of counterclockwise.

  • Relay Spoke: After tagging the flag, the winner must run back and high-five the next player before sitting.
