Hi there!

October snuck up on us. The calendar flipped this week and suddenly it's fall festival season: church trunk-or-treats going on the sign-up sheet, school carnivals asking for booth volunteers, and every youth group and small group trying to squeeze in one more outdoor night before the weather turns. If you've been handed a clipboard and a "can you run a game station?" this week, you're in good company.

The good news is that booth games and group games are the same thing with a different table. Everything below runs off cups, balloons, cones and a few hoops, so you can set it up in the parking lot, the fellowship hall or your own living room when the rain moves in. Here are nine to get you through the week.

New This Week

Cone Flip Relay. Set a row of cones upside down, then send players sprinting toward them with a ball. Drop or bounce the ball onto a cone so it flips right-side up and it counts as a point for your team; keep going until time runs out or every cone on the field is flipped.

Keepy Uppy with a Twist. Keep a balloon in the air, but you can only hit it with another ball in your hands, and you have to pass that ball to a teammate after every touch. Great for the living room, the youth room or anywhere you've got ten minutes to kill.

Fan It to the Top. Build a simple chute, drop a balloon in the bottom and have players fan it (paper plates work great) all the way up and out the top, relay style. Whichever team gets the most balloons out of the chute before time is up wins.

Most Played

Three of the channel's all-time favorites that haven't made it into a newsletter yet.

Reverse Cup Stack with a Balloon. Give each player six cups and an inflated balloon. Squeezing the bottom of the balloon creates just enough suction to lift a cup, and the goal is to stack all six into a pyramid without knocking it over. First player or team to finish wins.

Hot Potato Musical Chairs. Everyone stands in a circle and passes a ball around while the music plays. When the music stops, whoever is holding the ball is out. Keep going until one person is left standing; no chairs to drag around.

Flip and WIN. Set out six cups upside down with a ping pong ball resting on the bottom of each. Flick the ball into the air, flip the cup over and catch it. First one to catch all six wins.

This Week's Picks: Fall Festival Booth Games

Three games that were built for a carnival booth or a field, and still work in a gym when the forecast doesn't cooperate.

Human Ring Toss. One teammate is the target. Everyone else tosses inflatable pool rings at them and they try to catch the rings on their body. Count how many they land before the timer runs out, or set a number and race to hit it first.

Clear the Hoops Race. Lay out a line of hula hoops with a cone sitting in each one. Players hop into a hoop, toss the cone out, and move to the next. First one to reach the middle wins.

Land 4 in a Row. Fill a grid of cups with water and hand each team some ping pong balls. Bounce the balls off the table into the cups and try to land four in a row. First team to connect four wins.
