2+ Players 👥
3-4 Minutes ⏱️
No supplies needed
Have players pair up and stand facing each other.
Each player should hold their left palm up and flat, and place their right index finger pointing down above the other person’s left palm (not touching).
Start with the signal: The leader calls out a silly phrase or a fake-out word to get everyone’s attention.
Use a trigger word: When the leader finally yells “GRAB!”, players must try to do two things at the same time:
Use their right finger to poke/grab the other person’s left hand.
Pull their own left hand away before it gets poked.
Repeat with rotations: Winners can rotate to face a new partner or play best out of three.
Optional scoring: Award 1 point for a successful grab or escape. First to 5 wins!
Say Something Like
“Alright, this next game will test your ninja reflexes! You’re trying to be fast enough to grab your partner’s finger—but also fast enough to pull your hand away so they don’t get you! It’s harder than it sounds… Ready? GRAB!”
Variations
Silent Signal: Instead of saying “Grab!”, have the leader drop a handkerchief or clap once.
Eyes Closed Mode: Have players close their eyes and rely on sound only.
Discipleship Teaching Points
Sometimes we’re so focused on trying to catch others doing wrong, we forget to guard ourselves. “Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” — 1 Corinthians 10:12
Secular Teaching Points
This game builds quick decision-making, awareness, and reaction time—all great skills for social learning and coordination in a fun, low-pressure environment.
