What You’ll Need
Setup
Have all players stand in a circle with one person (the caller) standing in the center holding the cane upright on the floor, balancing it with one hand.
Each player in the circle should be assigned a number.
How to Play
Call a number – The center person shouts out a number at random.
Let go of the cane – At the same time, they release the cane.
Dash to grab – The player whose number was called must run and catch the cane before it falls to the floor.
If they succeed, they return to their spot and the center person calls a new number.
If they fail, they switch places with the person in the center.
Say Something Like
“Stay alert—when your number is called, you’ve got just seconds to grab that cane before it crashes!”
Variations
Double Trouble – Call two numbers, and both players must try to grab opposite ends of the cane.
Sneaky Switch – The caller can fake dropping the cane to catch players off guard.
