Band-aid Tag
A hilarious and high-energy tag variation that uses imaginary Band-Aids to keep the game going with a twist.
Setup
- Designate one or two players as the taggers.
- Explain the Band-Aid rule: when someone gets tagged, they must cover the “hurt” with a hand as a Band-Aid.
How to Play
- Begin the chase: Taggers try to tag other players.
- Apply a Band-Aid: When tagged, players must place a hand over the spot where they were tagged and continue playing.
- Get tagged again: If tagged a second time, they must use their other hand to cover that spot too.
- Third tag = out: If they’re tagged a third time and have no hands left, they’re out and must cheer others on from the sideline.
- Keep it moving: Play continues until one player is left or time runs out.
Say Something Like
“Let’s see how many Band-Aids you can manage! Remember, once you’re out of hands, you’re out of the game—but you still get to cheer like crazy!”
Variations
- Team Tag: Divide into two teams and only allow tags between teams.
- Freeze Band-Aid: Instead of going out after the third tag, players must freeze until someone "heals" them with a high five.
Discipleship Teaching Points
Great way to talk about how we all get hurt, but we don’t have to stay down—others can help us heal. Use Galatians 6:2 as a connection: “Bear ye one another’s burdens…”
Secular Teaching Points
Teaches perseverance, resilience, and encourages empathy as kids cheer and care for each other during gameplay.
