Spot the Fake

In this fast-paced Bible challenge, teams race to spot the fake answer hidden in a list of real Bible facts! Quick thinking and strong Bible knowledge are key as players rush to buzz in first with the right answer — and maybe even show off what should be true instead.

Gameplay

  • 8+ Players 👥

  • 5-8 Minutes ⏱️

What You’ll Need

  • Lists of Bible facts with one fake in each list (examples: parables, miracles, books, kings, disciples, sons of Jacob, etc.)

  • Enough copies of each list for every team

  • A buzzer or bell

  • A space where a “runner” can dash to the center

Setup

  • Print out enough list copies for each team (one per round). Each list must contain one wrong item.

  • Designate a center “buzzer zone” where one player from each team will run to hit the buzzer.

  • Assign one person to be the moderator and scorekeeper.

How to Play

  • Distribute the first list to each team face-down.

  • Give the start signal and let teams flip over the list.

  • Find the fake: Each team works together to find the item that doesn’t belong.

  • Run to the buzzer: Once ready, the team’s “runner” sprints to the center to buzz in.

  • Give the answer: The moderator acknowledges the first team and listens to their answer.

    • If correct: that team gets a point.

    • If incorrect: they sit out the rest of that round, and others may buzz in.

  • Repeat with the next list.

  • Tally scores at the end — most points wins!

Say Something Like
“Listen up, Bible detectives! Each list you’ll see has a sneaky imposter — something that just doesn’t belong. Your job? Find the fake, buzz in first, and tell me what it is! And if you’re really on your game, tell us why it’s fake and where it does belong. Ready to spot the fake?”

Variations

  • Silent Buzz: Instead of a physical buzzer, teams write the answer and hold it up. Fastest correct answer wins the point.

  • Multiple Fakes: For older players, sneak in 2 fakes per list. They must identify both.

  • Rapid Fire Round: Read a list out loud and have all teams shout or hold up answers.
