Gameplay

  • 4+ Players 👥

  • 2-4 Minutes ⏱️

What You’ll Need

  • 2 large shoeboxes per player (same size preferred)

  • Tape (to help secure boxes if needed)

  • Open floor space

Setup

  • Clear a long, smooth floor for a “race track.”

  • Mark a starting line and a finish line with tape or cones.

  • Make sure each player has two shoeboxes to stand in—one for each foot.

How to Play

  • Get ready in your boxes: Have players put one foot in each shoebox, standing at the starting line.

  • Slide, don’t step!: On your “Go!” signal, players must shuffle or slide their feet forward without lifting them out of the boxes.

  • First to finish wins: The first player to cross the finish line with both feet still in their boxes wins.

  • If a foot comes out of a box, the player must stop and fix it before continuing.

Say Something Like
"Alright racers, it's time to trade in your sneakers for shoeboxes! Slide your way to victory without stepping out. Ready, set, SLIDE!"

Variations

  • Team Relay: Teams take turns sliding across and back, tagging the next teammate.

  • Obstacle Slide: Add cones or items to navigate around for more challenge.

  • Backward Slide: Race while facing backwards—extra fun and tricky!

Discipleship Teaching Points
Great for talking about perseverance and keeping going even when it's tough or awkward. Hebrews 12:1 – “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

Secular Teaching Points
Encourages balance, coordination, and laughter. It’s a great way to practice silliness and determination at the same time!
