10+ Players 👥
7-10 Minutes ⏱️
Soft foam frisbees (approx. 10-12 for medium-sized groups)
Clearly marked centerline and team baselines
Cones or tape to define “prison” zones behind each team (optional)
NOTE: This game should only be played with the frisbees listed above due to risk of injuries involving other frisbee types.
Divide players into two equal teams.
Place all frisbees on the center line.
Designate the back wall or line behind each team as their “home base.”
Mark off space behind each team for “prison” zones in Phases 2 and 3.
Phase 1: Classic Frisbee Dodgeball
Split into two teams.
On “Go!”, players rush the center and retrieve only the right half of the frisbees. (So if there are 12 frisbees, each team grabs 6.)
Bring it back first: A frisbee must be returned to your team’s home base before it becomes “live.”
Throw to eliminate: Hit an opponent directly to get them out. Every shot counts, including head shots.
Catches flip the script: If someone catches your throw, you’re out.
Live discs: If the frisbee hits a player, they are out. Players cannot block a disc with another disc. Dodge it or get eliminated.
Dead discs: If the frisbee touches the ground, wall, or anything else before hitting someone—it’s a dead disc.
Last team standing wins the round.
Phase 2: Welcome to Prison!
Everything from Phase 1 applies.
Eliminated players go to the “prison” behind the opposing team’s field.
Teammates can try to throw them a frisbee—if caught, they are back in the game.
Make sure throws to prison are also “live”: if it bounces first, it doesn’t count.
Phase 3: Comeback Strikes!
Includes all previous rules in Phases 1 and 2.
When a prisoner catches a frisbee, they can immediately throw it at an opponent while running back to their team’s side.
If they get someone out—great! If not, they rejoin their team anyway.
Say Something Like
"This isn’t your average dodgeball game—welcome to Battle Frisbee! We’re starting simple, but hang tight—because the rules change as the game goes on. Dodge, catch, eliminate, and if you’re out—don’t worry, you’re not done yet!"
Variations
Reverse Prison: Players in prison can only return by throwing a frisbee through a hoop or designated target.
One-Hand Catch Only: For advanced rounds, only one-handed catches count for returns or eliminations.
Timed Chaos: Add a countdown for each phase. When time’s up, surviving players score points.
Discipleship Teaching Points
Teamwork, perseverance, and unexpected comebacks are at the heart of this game—just like in life, where even when we feel “out,” God can still use us.
📖 “But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.” – Matthew 19:30 (KJV)
Secular Teaching Points
Encourages strategic thinking, resilience after failure, and how to stay engaged as a team even when “out.” Reinforces communication and comeback spirit.
